CURATING IN CONTEXT::: Lokomotiva- Skopje, organised the first activities of the project ”Curating in Context”, supported by the Erasmus +, EU programme for education, training, youth and sport

From 17^th till 21nd November in Kino Kultura- project_ space for contemporary performing arts and culture in Skopje, Lokomotiva organised two activities in the framework of the project “Curating in Context”.

The aim of the “Curating in Context” project is to develop curatorial training with a strong focus on social impact through the involvement of local, regional and international actors, targeting individuals as well as cultural and civic organisations. The project intends to create further education for cultural workers and citizens through strategies derived from performing arts and curatorial practice. Through methods of mutual pollination of know-how and best practices from the performing arts and the civil sector the ‘’Curating in Context’’ project also aims to collate the impact of both cultural and civil sector on society.

On 4^th and 5^th November, Lokomotiva- Center for New Initiatives in arts and culture, Skopje is organizing the first meeting of the European cooperation project named ACT: Art, Climate, Transition (ACT).

The main goal of this project is age of climate breakdown, mass extinction and unprecedented loss of biodiversity.

ACT is a European cooperation project aiming in bringing together arts, ecology and climate change, but also focus which must ﬁnd a connection to the interlinked issues of inequality, climate justice and urban ecologies

Open Call for performing art students and young professionals to join the Imaginary School gathering in Giessen, Germany

2nd-6th of December 2019, Giessen, Germany

We are inviting young artists, students, professionals, writers and thinkers to engage together in the imagining of the alternatives of working and being together, reacting to the populist and nationalist wave in Europe. We would like to examine new institutionalization, practices and modes of producing, especially related to the work of the young artists, who are working in the increasingly but also precarious international field and at the same time fighting for the right to work and remain in their local surrounding, fighting nationalism and populist pressure. We will exchange and share models and practices, current and historical one, which insist on the creation of experiments, feminist, radical and progressive practices, which insists on equality, solidarity and work against the populist political imagination.

Biljana Tanurovska Kjulavkovski today in Dijon will present her PhD Thesis “Theory of institutions and cultural policies for contemporary performative practices” nominated for the for the ENCATC Research Award.

The presentation is organised in the frame of 2019 ENCATC Congress on Cultural Management and Policy in Dijon 2-5 2019, dedicated on the subject of “Diversity and sustainability at work; Policies and practices from culture and education”. During the congress Tanurovska Kjulavkovski is also engaged as mentor in 2019 ENCATC Research Boot Camp – Governance

Biljana Tanurovska Kjulavkovski is one of the presenters at the Seminar in Lublin, Poland, held from 22 to 24 September, organized in the framework of the project “Imaginary school for the future of the (art) institutions”. She will have her presentation on the subject “We want to work here! – curatorial strategies for spaces of interdependence” followed by discussion at Labyrinth Gallery on 23^rd September 2019.
